Na een grondige reconstructie in mei 2000 heropende het Golden Star Hotel zijn oude deuren om zijn schoonheid zonder weerga te laten schitteren. De eerste vermelding van het gebouw dateert 1372, toen het eigendom was van de burgemeester van Hradcany. In de eeuwen daarna wisselde het meerdere malen van eigenaar. Onder hen bevonden zich hofdienaren, leden van verschillende godsdienstige ordes en vele belangrijke Praagse burgers. In 1723-32, toen het huis van de ambtenaar van de Tsjechische koniklijke kanselarij Baltazar Knapp was, vond een grondige en dure reconstructie plaats, die het gebouw de huidige vorm heeft gegeven. Onlangs is een reconstructie voltooid, die de oorspronkelijke architectonische elementen heeft gerespekteerd en voorzichtig moderne, luxueuze voorzieningen heeft toegevoegd.
